The recent acquisition of the Yurol/Ringtail forest by the Noosa Council has really got me wondering who’s in charge of this council and secondly when will this sheer nonsense will stop.

The Noosa Council, despite their claims, is really struggling financially. Hinterland roads, bridges, river erosion and town infrastructure are in desperate need of attention and have been neglected due to lack of funds.

Instead this Council decided that the acquisition of the old pine forest at the cost of $3.5M to be shared equally between State, NC, and NPA ($1.2M each) was a much better option! On top of that the Noosa Council ‘has lent’ the NPA $600K to help them pay for their part of the deal! BTW that amount is twice the amount of money that has been allocated for road repair and maintenance in the hinterland ($300K reduced from $360!).

We all love a koalas but come on…It will take 10 years to replant and regenerate a suitable environment in that forest and probably another 10 years before you spot your first koala.

This council has gone completely Gaga over koalas and lost their priorities… Mayor Wellington needs to show leadership. His chances of re-election in 16 months time depend on it.
