Cooran Earth Rights, Lock the Gate and Zero Emissions Noosa is hosting a Plan for Prosperity Forum: What is your vision for the future of the Sunshine Coast from 6.30 to 8.30 pm this coming Thursday at the CQU Campus on Goodchap Street.
This fits in well with our Noosa 2040 – Future Scenarios project, asking the community to provide their vision for what Noosa will look like in just over 20 years’ time.
This special event will bring local and national expertise together to talk about how we can build a vision for the future of the region.
Hear from energy experts and community change agents about global trends in energy and pathways to enable our region to diversify and thrive that won’t cost the earth.
Find out how we can develop regional plans that will ensure a strong diverse economy long into the future, protecting our key assets of land and water whilst maximising new opportunities in renewable energy and other emerging industries.
Speakers:
Tim Buckley: Finance expert from the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis who will discuss trends in global energy demand and the scale of predicted declines in thermal coal and growth in renewable energy
Wendy Farmer: Community campaigner from the Latrobe Valley, Victoria, who will talk about new community ventures and economic diversification in her region in response to the closure of the Hazelwood power station.
Ellie Smith: Will present an outline of the Plan to Grow initiative in Queensland which seeks to protect our key land and water assets from resource activities and to capitalise on new opportunities in renewable energy and other emerging industries.
Vivien Griffin: President of Zero Emissions Noosa, will share the impact this local initiative is having on local businesses and communities.
Hope to see you there!
