The voice of the hinterland and the young, we thank Nathanael for both his sensible answers to our questions and his ongoing service to our community.

Fixing crumbling infrastructure or keeping a budget surplus?

Keeping the budget in surplus is always the goal for any proactive council, however, failing to spend what is necessary to maintain infrastructure will only cost more in the long run, this campaign I’ve made a point of nit promising any that cost more than is presently budgeted. There are ways to get the same or better service at a lower cost when public consultation and expert advice is included in the preparation and costing.

Active Transport – Would you commit to getting things moving?

Absolutely. I’m fully behind reforming the shires public transport strategy and including Boreen Point, Kin Kin and Como as part of the bus network.

Would you support increasing Noosa Shire’s carrying capacity?

Towns are naturally limited in their growth by established houses and units, and new estates being built as part of the town planning scheme is standard. The individual communities should have say over its growth in both Business precincts and residential estates. I will not hinder towns wishing to grow into the future, and I will actively promote upgrading infrastructure into the future.

Would you commit to trying harder to protect our Sunrise Glossies?

Definitely, protecting fauna is very important. We have an obligation to future generations to do what’s we can to keep our eco-system thriving and the plight of the Sunrise Glossies is a great example of people coming together to do what is needed. I will actively support efforts to protect the Glossies.

Which long term climate change action(s) would you champion?

I fully support renewable energy in Australia. I would love to see solar on every building and am fully supportive of the wind farm going in between Gympie and Maryborough. I will actively do what I can to see the Noosa Council achieve its zero emissions 2026 target.
