All is well in paradise.

457 visas, volunteers, and virtual reality

no way in  – no way out.

Three girls added to the statistics
too upsetting get mentioned
out of respect for the families.

All is well in paradise.

Through the black mirror
sun, sand and social media
to glimpse a meaningful future
beyond pain and desperation
alienation and digital hyperbole.

Too little to mention
out of respect for the families.

Too little too late.

And so we grieve in silence
not to spoil the perfect holiday
in someone else’s paradise.

In honour of the three girls, their friends and families and anybody else struggling in our ‘paradise’.
