The purpose of Open Noosa is to enable citizens, whether they live in Noosa Shire or are interested in it, to make a positive contribution to the policy and other issues facing this community.

There are few people in Noosa who would want to see it diminish environmentally in any way. But there are few people who would not want to see it progress in ways that benefit the people who live here.

In many respects Noosa’s future is ill-defined and we believe there needs to be more discussion and debate about what the future may look like and the best means of achieving this.

Open Noosa believes this discussion must be had and that it must be open and inclusive. We believe that no one has a mortgage on it. And we know that social media provides one means of continuing citizens’ participation in this process.

Accordingly, the website will publish articles, essays, stories and other writing as well as art, photography and design on subjects of historical, contemporary and future interest to the people of Noosa.

Our ambit is broad and covers accessibility, social enterprise, sustainable tourism, innovation, environmental issues, social well being, local politics, urban development, land use, surf culture, arts …. and much more.

Open Noosa provides opportunities for considered writing which we hope will make a substantial and lasting contribution to shaping Noosa’s future. This does not mean devoid of criticism, investigation or exposure. We strive to be fair, thoughtful and open.

Open Noosa has no ideological stance and what is published can be argued from whatever point of view the author chooses. So we invite people who have something to say on any subject to submit articles and other materials for publication. We also invite readers to comment on what we publish.

All contributions are subject to the normal processes of publication, which means they will be edited. We do not edit for bias but for style, fact, respect, and legality. Unfortunately, we cannot pay, although all material will remain the property of the originator.

We hope you will participate in this project. Pitch us a story today.
