Welcome to Open Noosa – a collaborative local affairs blog examining and discussing Noosa’s issues & challenges.

Open Noosa publishes articles and other writing as well as art, photography and design on a wide range of subjects including the environment, economic development, social issues, local politics, urban development and more. All this is interlaced with humour, history and comment.

Open Noosa has no particular ideology other than to encourage lively and informative discussion, debate and commentary.

We live in a community where citizens are passionate about conserving what we have and intent on adopting a balanced approach to change. But, beyond that, where Noosa is headed is ill-defined and there is no agreed community vision. We hope to contribute to addressing that gap.

Open Noosa has been established by Bettina Walter and Desiré Gralton. The editorial team will expand as we are joined by people who share an interest in an inclusive civic life, fairness in human relationships and free cultural expression.

We believe passion is important and partisanship is inevitable but, while not embarrassed to admit to either, we are primarily committed to truth-telling.

We hope you’ll enjoy the posts and participate in conversations. If you have any writing or project you would like to share send a link or a brief pitch to editor@opennoosa.org. I’d also like to encourage you to add comments to posts.

Onto an exciting future. See you next time.

Bettina
